Charter Member of the Smart Kids' Club
On Tuesday morning Evan and I went to the middle school for Cameron's honors assembly. I think it's nice that they make a big deal about it, calling each kid up on the stage and presenting him with some loot. He got a certificate, ribbon, medal, and a bumper sticker that says "My Child is an Honor Roll Student at LMS" that will never ever be seen on our car. :o)
As you can tell from the photo, Evan was not impressed.
Cameron has made it halfway through his seventh grade year and has NEVER gotten anything but an A on his report card. That's kind of a big deal. It's not something we've ever had to put much pressure on him about - he just really holds himself to a very high standard. I do sometimes worry that he'll go postal at the sight of a B+, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it - IF we come to it.
Genes for all kinds of things are passed down from parents - height, eye color, even some facial expressions. But Cam's grades are obvious proof that some genes aren't inherited, they just spontaneously burst into being.
